World Steel in Figures is a handy reference for world steel trade data, export data, and production information. The publication contains a list of the world's top 80 steel-producing companies, as well as the top steel-producing countries.
As in previous years, World Steel in Figures lists the top steel producing countries and companies around the world.
In 2005 the five major steel producing countries were:
- China (349.4 million metric tons mmt)
- Japan (112.5 mmt)
- United States (94.9 mmt)
- Russia (66.1 mmt)
- South Korea (47.8 mmt)
Total world production reached 1,131.8 mmt in 2005, up from 1,067.0 mmt in 2004.
The largest five steel producing companies in 2005 were:
- Mittal Steel (63.0 mmt)
- Arcelor (46.7 mmt)
- Nippon Steel (32.0 mmt)
- POSCO (30.5 mmt)
- JFE (29.9 mmt)
