Technical Assistant, Data Management
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) is hiring a Technical Assistant, Data Management.
Overview
This is a unique opportunity to join one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world, with members in every major steel-producing country. worldsteel represents steel producers, national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. Our members constitute around 85% of global steel production.
This full-time function aims to perform a variety of statistics activities in cooperation with the Data Management team under the close supervision of the team leader.
This is a junior role requiring regular communication within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
You will be part of a flat organisational structure that places a high requirement on personal commitment and performance.
Main responsibilities
- Collecting and entering information
- Identifying errors and reporting them to the supervisor
- Maintaining and improving databases
- Regularly reporting to the supervisor
- Designing improvement specifications and testing
- Providing support and answering questions from worldsteel members
- Cooperating with multiple data administrators within the organisation on data collection, processing, dissemination and integration
- Working in compliance with all company procedures and related standards of work
- Any other tasks assigned by the Head, Data Management or the Director General
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate field e.g. computer science, mathematics, statistics or data management (other possible if experience in data processing is proven)
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Good command of data gathering and analysis
- Preferably 1-2 years of experience in data processing
- Excel, SQL, Python, PowerBI and/or data visualisation tools
