IISI elects new officers and welcomes new members
08 Oct 2007Berlin – The Board of Directors of the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) has elected the following new officers:
Chairman: Ku-Taek Lee, Chairman and CEO, POSCO Vice Chairmen: John Surma, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, United States Steel Corporation Lakshmi Mittal, President, ArcelorMittal Paolo Rocca, CEO – President, Techint Group
The new officers were elected for one year, until October 2008. The Board of Directors met on the first day of IISI’s 41st Annual Conference in Berlin, Germany.On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Secretary General of IISI, Ian Christmas thanked John Surma, IISI Chairman for 2006/2007, for his support and dedication over the past year. Ian Christmas also welcomed as the new Chairman Ku-Taek Lee and John Surma, Lakshmi Mittal and Paolo Rocca as Vice Chairmen.
The Board of Directors also elected the 2007/8 Executive Committee. The members of the Committee are:

We are delighted to welcome our new members on board, IISI members produce around 75% of the world’s steel (excluding China) and the growing membership in China now accounts for over 20% of Chinese production”.
