ArcelorMittal provides 310,000 tonnes of steel for gas pipeline to Europe

To enable the construction of one of the largest oil and gas pipelines in the world – the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) – ArcelorMittal is providing 310,000 tonnes of hot rolled coils from its production site in Bremen, Germany, more than one third of all the hot rolled coils needed for the TANAP project. NLMK Group almost halves occupational injuries at Russian sites

Luxury resort floats with ArcelorMittal steel

Around 1,200 tonnes of steel plates produced in ArcelorMittal’s Gijon facilities in Spain are being used in a unique project: a floating luxury holiday resort that will soon be travelling along the coast of Lebanon. The self-propelled floating resort – 74m long, 47m wide and 36.7m high – will include a five-star hotel with 62 rooms and suites, 70 rooms with a view of the seabed, a roof-top restaurant that can seat 300 people and a main deck with a capacity to seat 1,200 people, as well as many other leisure facilities. voestalpine is expanding its welding technology business segment by acquiring a company in India

The voestalpine Group is continuing to push forward with its internationalisation strategy by acquiring the Indian company Maruti Weld Pvt. Ltd., which is headquartered in New Delhi. The company, which specialises in manufacturing welding electrodes, currently has 180 employees; in 2012, it generated an annual revenue of EUR 6.7 million. For voestalpine, this acquisition represents yet another expansion of its product portfolio in the welding technology segment. Read more

Tata Steel announces track supply deal with French rail operator

08 January 2014 

Tata Steel has won a two-year contract to supply more than 200,000 tonnes of track to French rail operator SNCF. The contract will see Tata Steel supply the majority of SNCF’s rail requirements in lengths of up to 108 metres from its plant in Hayange, Northern France. The order was secured following a €35 million investment by Tata Steel in 2011 which allowed the Hayange mill to produce 108m lengths of rail that SNCF will use throughout France’s standard and high-speed networks. The new order is an extension of a previous contract with SNCF. Read more
