Nucor Announces Plans to Build Galvanizing Line at Arkansas Sheet Mill

Nucor Corporation's (NYSE: NUE) Board of Directors approved the construction of a galvanizing line at the company's sheet mill in Arkansas to support Nucor's growth into a wider and more diverse set of strategic end-market applications. The new galvanizing line is a $240 million investment with an annual capacity of approximately 500,000 tons. It is expected to be operational in the first half of 2021. Read more

H2FUTURE on track: construction starts at the world’s largest hydrogen pilot facility

An EU-funded flagship project for a CO2-reduced energy future and the decarbonization of steel production is taking shape: today, at the voestalpine site in Linz, the H2FUTURE project consortium, consisting of voestalpine, Siemens, VERBUND, and Austrian Power Grid, together with the research partners K1-MET and ECN, officially gave the go-ahead for construction of the world’s largest pilot facility for the production of “green” hydrogen. Kobe Steel to make capital investments for automotive high strength steel at Kakogawa Works

Kobe Steel, Ltd. plans to make capital investments of approximately 50 billion yen at Kakogawa Works centered on a new continuous annealing line for steel sheet in response to the growing demand for automotive ultra high-strength steel (UHSS). JFE Steel Corporation announced today that its joint-venture company JFE Meranti Mynmar Co., Ltd (JMM) celebrated the start of construction on a plant for hot-dip galvanizing and color coating of flat-steel products for building and construction in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone near Yangon, Myanmar on March 1. For the first time in 1,000 years, there is an opportunity for a technology shift and, as early as this spring, a globally-unique pilot plant for fossil-free steel is being planned for Northern Sweden.
