Nucor to Acquire Cold Finish Facilities in Missouri and Mexico

Nucor Corporation announced today that it has agreed to acquire St. Louis Cold Drawn, Inc., a manufacturer of cold drawn rounds, hexagons, squares, and special sections that mainly serve the U.S. and Mexican automotive and industrial markets. Read more

ArcelorMittal invests €96m in Florange and Dunkerque

In Florange, eastern France, €67m will be invested in a new production line for automotive steels. This project is part of the company’s strategy to have a centre of excellence for automotive steels production in the Lorraine region: Florange and Mouzon in France, and Dudelange in Luxembourg. voestalpine invests more than EUR 100 million in the development and production of high-quality steels at its Donawitz site

In line with its strategic focus on customer segments with highest technology requirements, the voestalpine Group has decided to invest more than EUR 100 million in two future-oriented projects at its Donawitz site in Austria. One of the projects is to set up a new continuous casting line for producing extremely pure steels as a sophisticated pre-material for premium rails, quality rolled wire, and high-tech seamless tubes. POSCO Commercializes High Manganese Steel Production Technology Based on Molten FeMn Alloy for First Time in the World

13 April 2017 

POSCO Technical Research Laboratories completed a commercial production test of "high manganese steel using molten manganese alloy" and finally transferred the equipment and operations to the Plate Rolling Department of Gwangyang Works. The steelmaker succeeded in commercializing it and opened up a new era of high manganese steel production technology by investing a total of 55 billion won in R&D over four years that began in 2013. The European Commission has awarded the H2FUTURE project consortium, consisting of voestalpine, Siemens, VERBUND and Austrian Power Grid (APG) as well as the research-partners K1-MET and ECN, the contract for the construction of one of the world’s largest electrolysis plants for producing green hydrogen. MMK celebrates 85th anniversary

OJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works ("MMK", or "the Company") (LSE: MMK) today celebrates the 85th anniversary of the launch of its Magnitogorsk mill. On 1 February 1932 the mill’s first blast-furnace produced its first batch of pig iron.
